Experimental physics professor Giulia Manca will discuss matter-antimatter asymmetries, while Marta Burgay of the Cagliari Astronomical Observatory will discuss the discovery she and her colleagues made of the first double pulsar, two very small and close neutron stars that orbit each other in just over two hours. One of Italy's five female rectors, pharmacologist Maria Del Zompo, who has been at the helm of the University of Cagliari for two years, will also speak.

"100 Women Against Stereotypes for Science" is a special event within the Cagliari Science Festival, taking place from today until November 12th.

And "Future Science," as the tenth edition of the festival is titled, fits perfectly with female science. Rita Levi-Montalcini argued that the future of humanity also depends on women, particularly in the Global South, being given the opportunity to hone their skills in the scientific, social, and political fields. To mark the 150th anniversary of Marie Curie's birth, the festival is dedicating numerous events and activities to the great neurologist, Nobel Prize winner in Medicine in 1986, and to all women scientists. Over six days, there will be 81 sessions covering physics, chemistry, natural sciences, and mathematics, presented through a rich variety of languages and activities.
