A Life as a Scientist – The Faces of 100 Experts

The photography exhibition "A Life as a Scientist" showcases the expertise and talent of Italy's leading female researchers, highlighting their role models in STEM disciplines.

Conceived in 2019 by the Bracco Foundation and part of the 100esperte ecosystem, the exhibition complements the database by translating the profiles of female experts into stories of inspiration and scientific leadership. The project aims to overcome gender stereotypes, stimulating a cultural evolution in the media and society that places the merit and value of female scientific ingenuity at the center.

Biologists, astrophysicists, chemists, mathematicians, surgeons, and experts in many other disciplines are captured by photographer Gerald Bruneau's eclectic lens not only in their laboratories, but in the human, everyday dimensions of their profession. Each shot thus becomes a gateway, transforming the protagonists of research into role models for students and the new generations.

Over the years, the exhibition has been hosted by prestigious national institutions, such as the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic, and has even reached international diplomatic missions in Europe, the United States, and Asia. This global tour testifies to the value of a collective project aimed at promoting scientific merit in contemporary society.
