Role
Associate Professor of Mathematical Physics and University Researcher at the Ennio De Giorgi Department of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Salento; Rector's Delegate for Gender Policies at the University of Salento.
Bio
After graduating with honors in mathematics from the University of Bologna, Anna Maria Cherubini earned a PhD in mathematics there, with a thesis on perturbation theory in semiclassical mechanics. For the following two years, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Padua, working on problems in Hamiltonian perturbation theory from an analytical and numerical perspective. At the University of Verona, she teaches courses in mathematical analysis.
Since her appointment as a researcher at the University of Salento, she has expanded her research interests to include critical transitions in complex systems and dynamical systems with a causal component. From 2013 to 2015, she was a visiting researcher at the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London, collaborating with the dynamical systems group. She is currently an associate professor at the Department of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Salento. Since November 2019, she has been the Rector's Delegate for gender policies. She is a member of the Gender Commission of the National Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities; of the steering committee of European Women in Mathematics (EWM); and of the Equal Opportunities Committee of the Italian Mathematical Union.
His research area includes analytical and numerical aspects of dynamical systems, including random dynamical systems, with applications to ecology (e.g., the study of desertification and the identification of early signals of critical transitions) and the study of desertification (early signals of transition in semi-arid landscapes), and problems linking Hamiltonian mechanics, random components, and celestial mechanics.
