Role
Associate Professor of Algebra at the University of Trento.
Bio
Alessandra Bernardi has been an associate professor of Algebra at the University of Trento since 2016. She graduated in Mathematics from Bologna in 2001 and obtained her PhD from the University of Milan in 2005. She carries out research in Bologna, Trento, and Turin and, as a Marie Curie Fellow, at INRIA in Sophia Antipolis, France.
His research combines algebra, algebraic geometry, and computational methods. He studies tensors, mathematical structures that represent multidimensional data and quantum systems. He studies how to decompose them into simpler components and when these decompositions are unique, developing both theoretical results and algorithms. Applications include data analysis, quantum information, and computational complexity.
He founded and coordinates the TensorDec laboratory at the University of Trento, dedicated to algebra, geometry, and applications of tensor computations. He is the head of the Trento unit of the European doctoral network TENORS, which integrates tensor modeling, geometry, and optimization.
She combines research with teaching, training young researchers, and the dissemination of mathematics. She has held positions in the Presidency of the Italian Mathematical Union and participates in editorial activities and the organization of international scientific meetings.
