Role
Researcher at the CNR-GEO Institute of Geosciences, Padua section; Scientific director of the Geo-risk Management Group.
Bio
After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in 2007 and a master's degree in Environmental and Land Engineering in 2010 from the University of Padua, Giulia Bossi joined the Research Institute for Geo-Hydrological Protection in Padua as a fellow that same year. She earned her PhD in Civil, Environmental, and Materials Engineering from the University of Bologna in 2015.
She was a research fellow at CNR-IRPI from 2013 to 2019 and has been a Researcher at CNR since 2019. She is currently the Scientific Director of the Geo-risk Management Group and of European, national and local projects aimed at mitigating risk for people, settlements and infrastructure.
His work focuses on geotechnical engineering , soil mechanics, and landslides , with a focus on modeling, monitoring, and mitigation of geo-hydrological risks. He specializes in risk scenarios, slope stability analysis, monitoring data, and Structural Health Monitoring systems for infrastructure such as tunnels and embankments.
At CNR-IRPI, she contributes to the reconstruction of the dynamics of large landslides in Veneto, Alto Adige, and Friuli Venezia Giulia and to the definition of mitigation interventions. She coordinates three EU Marie Skłodowska-Curie projects on transport infrastructure and offshore wind farms. She is the author of over 40 peer-reviewed international publications, an editor for the journals Landslide and Journal of Mountain Sciences, and the recipient of five national and international awards for presentations and research products.
